Cisco Buys Mobile Software Maker Orative

Cisco has acquired the privately held company, Orative of San Jose, California. Cisco said the deal would allow it to add wireless connectivity to its "Unified Communications" system, which integrates the companies' phone, Internet and video services. In March 2006, Cisco announced its Unified Communications system based on Cisco's Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA), which is said to enable businesses of all sizes to integrate their communications systems with their IT infrastructure, thereby creating a single communications platform. The Cisco Unified Communications system of voice, video and IP communications products and applications is said to enable organisations to communicate by leveraging all services located in the network from anywhere, with any device, at anytime.
