Motorola Buys Broadband Company Netopia for USD 208 Mln

Telecom gear maker Motorola will buy broadband equipment maker Netopia for USD 7 a share in a deal valued at USD 208 million.

With this acquisition, Motorola gains Netopia’s expertise in copper-based broadband product portfolio including wired and wireless modems, routers and gateways. Its North American customers include telecom players such as BellSouth, Covad Communications, EarthLink, AT&T and Verizon Communications.
