Red Hat Shuts Door on Patent Agreement with Microsoft

Distributor of the Linux operating system, Red Hat has declined Microsoft's offer to enter into a patent protection deal with Microsoft like Novell. Microsoft believed that Red Hat would enter into a similar patent indemnity arrangement with all the other Linux vendors. On the contrary, Red Hat thinks differently, Mark Webbink, Red Hat’s deputy general counsel, said, "We do not believe there is a need for or basis for the type of relationship defined in the Microsoft-Novell announcement."
