Intel Prepares to Fight Two-front Antitrust Battle

The European Union is planning to file formal antitrust charges against chipmaker Intel regarding the complaint filed in 2000 by rival AMD. The spat between the two companies is about whether Intel would share information from operations outside the United States. AMD alleges Intel used its dominant position in the microprocessor business to pressure system makers not to use AMD chips in their products.
